Robert Parker 93 Points!

This well-run property of the Kwok family has produced some great wines in their short tenure as owners. The 2005 La Réserve is an open-knit, opulent style of wine. Very forward, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color and plenty of crème de cassis, kirsch, licorice and new saddle leather. Spicy and full-bodied.

Robert Parker, June 2015

"Château Haut-Brisson is located in the Vignonet sector of St-Émilion, not far from Château Monbousquet and Château Teyssier. The estate was purchased in 1997 by Peter Kwok. After the initial purchase, the new owner wanted to discover how far he could push the quality envelope for his Right Bank château. Before he could do that, Peter began purchasing additional parcels of land and increasing the size of their vineyards.

When Peter made the original purchase, the estate was only 8 hectares. Through additional purchases, today, Château Haut-Brisson has been able to increase its size. Most recently, Peter purchased the estate of Château Tourans. Once that purchase was completed, the 12.6-hectare vineyard was divided. 8 hectares was added to Tour Saint Christophe. The remaining vines were placed into Haut-Brisson. The winemaking and barrel ageing were moved to Château Tourans. Today, most of the vines used for Haut-Brisson come from their new parcels located in the cooler, clay-rich terroir found in the commune of St-Êtienne-de-Lisse.”
