SMALL BATCH WHISKY, HANDCRAFTED IN THE VICTORIAN HIGH COUNTRY (YACKANDANDAH) FROM MALTED RYE, BARLEY AND WHEAT. BOTTLED AT 45% WITH MATURATION IN AMERICAN AND WINE CASK. EVERY BOTTLE HAS HAND-WRITTEN BOTTLE NUMBERS AND BOTTLING DATES. LIMITED PRODUCTION OF A CLASSIC, TOASTY, NUTTY WHISKY.   

"Backwoods Distilling Co. is a craft whisky distillery located in the Victorian high country region. Working from our Yackandandah property, we handcraft whisky and spirits in small batches using locally sourced ingredients, spring water and a diverse selection of reclaimed barrels. Our aim is to create high-quality spirits that celebrate a unique flavour that only the Victorian High Country region can offer. We established our small batch distillery in 2017 after years of research, distillery visits and tasting whisky from all over the world.

This Backwoods Rye Whisky 46% 500ml is our Batch #2, where Heritage Ryecorn is the chief ingredient. It delivers an earthy, fresh rye bread aroma, toasty/biscuit like sweetness and a classic dry, spicy finish.

Our mash bill also includes barley (for sweetness) and wheat (for nuttiness). And finally we add a small amount of chocolate malt. You will notice this on the finish, as it lingers on the pallet, urging your next sip.

The wash is twice-distilled in our custom-designed copper pot still and transferred to its chosen cask for maturation. We have Rye Whisky maturing in a variety of American and French Oak casks, that have previously held whisky, red or fortified wines." - Backwoods
