Wine Front 94 Points!

"Made from mostly garnacha (grenache) with syrah and carinena in the mix. Four partners working with tiny vineyard plots in the mountains above Madrid – four monkeys. I love these ‘alpine’ grenache wines. Very long macerations here too, which is unusual for grenache. Do you like Barolo/Etna nerello mascalese? Here ya go.

Distinct and exciting wine. Fine-boned, ultra fragrant, almost vermouth-like scents and flavours with layers of herbal, floral, pretty, spice. Stunning perfume. The palate is so fine-boned, slender and tight, fringed with coils of fine, very firm tannin, drawing the wine long. Acidity is bracing, fruit flavour shy, savouriness in the mix, minerality a sense too. There’s so much going on in this light to medium weight frame and tannins are serious and succulent."

"4 Monos' 2014 Tinto mixes grapes, Garnacha with 5% each Syrah and Cariñena, and origins, different plots in the villages of San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Cadalso de los Vidrios and Cenicientos in search of a fresh and balanced wine, with fruit, acidity and length. The full clusters fermented with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in used 300-, 400- and 500-liter French oak barrels for 12 months. In general, the reds are getting more elegant, perfumed and transparent, and this is a good example of it. Think of a Garnacha cotton candy, with red acid berries and a fresh and elegant palate, really tasty, with minerality and acidity that makes you salivate and want to drink more. This is delicious. 4,020 bottles were filled in December 2015."
